Hey loves ! I trust you loves are doing good and sane. Today I had a live interview with @sheelah_dealz where we talked about all things beauty, plus size modelling in South Africa, fashion, corporate and everything you need to know about being an influencer. If you were not able to tune in to that live interview, It's ok sis I got you! I saved the whole interview so you can definitely check it out on my stories @teydablogger.

This interview was meant to be filmed for my Vodcast ,@doingthedamnzpodcast. A video-podcast that aims to create a safe space for South African youth to have thought provoking conversations. The initiative is to interview young people who are doing the damnz and empower young and upcoming artists, entrepreneurs and creatives by showcasing their work ( subscribe to our YouTube channel link below) as well as giving them a platform to tell their stories. The interview was meant to be filmed this month at American Corner Spaces but you know Corona virus happened.

I believe that @Sheela_dealz is doing the damnz because is a jack of all trades and is absolutely killing everything she is doing. She does everything with so much grace, kindness and wow she is so humble. I thought I should share with you guys one or two things we spoke on.

As someone who is trying to venture into plus size modelling I had the opportunity to pick her brains about the plus size modelling industry in South Africa, She is one of the models for Lee Bex ( a plus size fashion brand by the amazing thickleeyonce). She raised an interesting point that in South Africa we do not have a plus size modelling industry but a plus size influencer meaning you have to create your own opportunities on social media by creating content that is authentic to you and hope brands will appreciate your content and want to work with you. I found that to be true because you do not see a lot of plus size models in South Africa. If you do, it is always the same faces and these are people who have quite a number of following.

Last year she graduated in Bcom now she is venturing into the property space, real estate, while pursuing her career as an influencer. Can you believe she already sold her first property even though she did not study or have experience in real estate. Even though her social media success has not contributed to her corporate success she plans to merge both of these worlds into one because she knows and understands the power of social media. This shows us that indeed the power of social media is extraordinary and the traditional way of advertising is becoming history.

We spoke on a lot of things and the interview was quite informative but I will not spoil it for you guys by sharing a lot but you definitely should check out that interview on my IG.

Please check the interview and send me assumptions that you have about me and i will reply to them on my next live.

Keep safe.

Hey cuties! I trust you loves are doing good and are still sane. Well... if you have been following my 21 days of blogging challenge you know that I did not publish a blog post yesterday I apologize for that and I will address that shortly. Did I fail the challenge?.

I have always felt like an outcast from my peers because I am always the one "oboniswayo", I am always chasing something or creating something just dreaming and actually doing something about the dream. When I started blogging in 2016 I did it for the fun of it even though I knew the potential blogging had ( I was doing my research since high school ) but unfortunately those around me didn't know anything about blogging or what blogging was so I got discouraged because the platform I was using at the time was proving to be hard for me to navigate and I did not get the support I expected especially from those close to me. In fact people were actually making fun of me.

Fast forward to late 2019 I recreated my blog from a different platform and it turned out exactly how I have always envisioned it but Sis was scared to actually do the work because she was scared of the negativity and rejection she previously experienced. I am Sis, Sis is me!. But I got the courage, the drive and the inspiration to JUST DO IT.

I love everything I do with all my heart it makes me so happy. I love waking up in the morning for a shoot, creating stories, writing , doing research for interviews or photo-shoots and working with different creatives to produce something magical and mind blowing. Sometimes I do ask myself if it is worth it or I am chasing a pipe dream like I have been told before. At times people don't even care to look at the work that I'd have spent time and resources on. Then when I don't receive the success that I would like to get from doing these things, I ask myself "Is it really worth it?"

Reality is, unfortunately, people will not support you in the early stages and it doesn't matter how amazing the content is. But the day you get to the top everyone will definitely want to be close and celebrate with you.

This post is neither a cry for help post nor a pity party. This post is for those who are feeling discouraged or like a failure because they are not where they want or should be in life. It is for those who are scared to chase their dreams because they feel inadequate or scared of "what people will say", this post is for you.

I just want to remind you that you DOING GOOD SWEETY!. You are touching someone's life out there and that is everything. They are all watching keep doing what you doing, start that business, do that thing that you have always wanted to do. Do it for you! you can and it is possible for you too.

The best gift you can give yourself is believing in your self and following your heart because at the end of the day you will be the one who is left with regrets, people will keep on doing what they do, Talk. If there is one thing that you can take away from me is never stop fighting for your dreams and for yourself, whatever that you put your heart into do it to your best abilities.

A huge thank you to everyone that has been following my journey and I apologize for disappointing you yesterday but I won't lie i needed that break and I got to put things into perspective. I am grateful for your continuous support.

Hello Angels ! I trust you babies are good good and had a blessed Easter weekend. I would write about Easter Sunday or something relevant to the resurrection of Christ but I don't want to bombard you guys with that especially because I wrote spiritual posts for the past two days and people are uncertain or confused or questioning God right now because of what is going on in the world.

I am grateful to God for giving up his only son so that my sins can be forgiven and so I can be made new. I believe the timing of the spread of the virus Covid-19 and the death and resurrection of Jesus is no coincidence. Life as we know it will change and God will show his greatness.

Ok before I get too excited about that and go on and on let's talk all things skin. Ever since the lock down my skin routine has been slacking and my skin has been acting up and I'm running out of products but there is one product that I will always stick by and you definitely have to have it. Period.

Sunscreen ! i know you probably thinking, "but Tey sweety I am always indoors" Well that doesn't matter child. Sunscreen protects sensitive skin against sunburn and it reduces the appearance of sun damage – discolorations, dark spots, sagging or leathery skin, and wrinkles. Sunscreen can also help prevent acne. Wear your sunscreen all the time whether it's raining or blazing hot.

I use the Demelan active face care daily sunscreen which claims:

  • Its broad spectrum UVA/UVB

  • It absorbs, reflects and scatters ultra-violet rays

  • Non-greasy ( I do find it greasy but it could be because I have oily skin

  • SPF 50 ( I recommend that you use sunscreen with SPF 50 or something close to that.

Sunscreen alone will not help you prevent acne but it will definitely help a lot. I do recommend that you use toner as well and yes! DRINK A LOT OF WATER.

What product do you swear by during quarantine ?
